Mentor Training
Introduction to Mentoring:
This first programme in mentoring is suitable for anyone interested in acquiring
a grounding in the principles of mentoring. The programme covers aims of
mentoring, roles and skills involved, establishing the mentor/mentee relationship,
agreeing targets and outcomes with the mentee, recognising progress, maintaining
records, sources of referral and help for the mentee and mentor, closing
the relationship. Leads to the BTEC/Edexcel Intermediate NVQ-equivalent
‘Introduction to Mentoring’ Award.
Mentoring Young People:
This programme covers similar topics but with emphasis on the practical
application of skills and knowledge. Leads to the BTEC/Edexcel Advanced
NVQ equivalent ‘Mentoring Young People’ Award. Note: Each of the above training
programmes can be tailored to meet the needs of specific client groups.
The Awards are generic and are suitable for any mentoring context.
Workplace Mentoring:
For those who support colleagues in any workplace via a one to one mentoring relationship. Covers a similar range of topics to the above programmes and leads to the Edexcel Advanced 'Workplace Mentoring' Award.
Community Mentoring:
Similar to the above but for those who are involved in mentoring colleagues in community/voluntary sector organisations. Leads to the Edexcel Advanced 'Community Mentoring' Award.
Taking a mentoring qualification without the RCT training:
Anyone who is already trained and a practising mentor in the appropriate filed, can take an appropriate qualificaiotn form the above range without first having to take taking an RCT mentor training course. We will register you with Edexcel and support you to work toward the relevant qualification. Please ask for further details.
