Community Training
Working as a community Volunteer:
Do you currently work as a community volunteer? Or are you thinking of doing
so? This is an introduction to community organisation and work types. We
look at what you can contribute to the community as a voluntary worker.
This programme examines the range of roles available and the skills needed
and considers your rights as a voluntary worker.
Community Mentoring:
Are you involved in community mentoring? This programme covers the key areas
relevant to you. It includes the aims of community mentoring, the roles
and skills involved, establishing the relationship, agreeing outcomes with
the mentee, recognising progress, maintaining records, sources of referral
and help for the mentee and mentor, closing the relationship. Leads to the
BTEC/Edexcel Advanced NVQ-equivalent ‘Community Mentoring’ Award.
Managing a Community Organisation:
Are you involved in setting up, running or improving a community organisation?
This programme covers – planning the organisation and its business, reaching
customers, deciding the right structure and setting out the constitution,
funding and financial control, recruiting and managing staff, communicating
inside and outside the organisation. Leads to the BTEC/Edexcel Advanced
NVQ equivalent ‘Managing a Community Organisation’ Award. Note: All the
‘Business and Management’ short courses are suitable for the community sector,
or can be tailored to meet community/voluntary sector needs. The five-day
‘Training Skills’ and Introductory First Line Manager’ programmes can also
be tailored in this way.

In such cases we tailor the training (discussion topics, case studies, role play etc.) to meet the particular requirements of the sector. Please ask for further details.
